Expo Weekend

It was quite the eventful and productive weekend!

Thursday - I took both Thursday and Friday off to prep for volunteering at the expo and to relax/do some chores. During the afternoon we picked up our volunteer swag bags and badges and then I went back home and did laundry and cleaned all afternoon. Then I went out for another poutine tryout with my friend at Modern Steak. When we got there, the assistant manager recognized my friend who had helped them choose their glasses (she's an optician). He then gave us glasses of prosecco on the house. That was really nice of him! It was my first time going there. We ended up sharing the Chili cheese and lobster poutines. The lobster poutine was pretty good. I really enjoyed the fries as well but it was a bit saltier than we thought it'd be. After dinner, we went to Higher Ground for a coffee break and chatted a bit. Then my friend and I went home. The bros were playing board games when I got home, so I just did some online browsing...

Friday - We volunteered at the expo, and that's what we did for the entire day... we covered the parade, and a few panels, Mark Meer and Boy Meets World as well as covered some of the video game area. :) After volunteering, we went to a friend's birthday party. I also picked up some foundation samples from my friend for the Guerlain Parure in No. 2. So far it looks good but it's kind of bright!

Saturday - We had another volunteer shift at the expo and covered Hodor's (Kristian Nairn) panel, Mara Wilson (Matilda) and my friend's panel as well as some other ones. Afterwards, we went to Bookers BBQ and O Cup for some food and bubbletea. Wow, the chicken was so good at Bookers. It was my first time going! We went with some friends and had some chill chats until about midnight. I was soooo tired.

Today we didn't have volunteering so we just took the day to explore the expo. Went to Stan Lee's panel and Jeremy Renner's and I almost bought a Gudetama barrel bag from Mars & Venus. Sigh, I just could not justify the price tag of $89+... maybe at the next convention. I would love to bring the bag to use for work and casual, but it has Gudetama's butt on it... haha, so I would only get to use it on weekends/after work. It was really good quality though. Hmm. I'm still thinking about it.

Tomorrow we're going to check our the Star Trek exhibit at the science centre, and then I am going to prep for the week. I'm trying out a new routine where I prep all my snacks at once and all of my outits at once for the work week. I'm also trying to plan after work stuff too in my journal as well.

Time to chill some more!

A late post!

Oh hey, it's been a while.

Friday - I went to Stage West with my work. We had intended it to be a work event where everyone would attend (including our new team member) but that didn't follow through, as two people couldn't make it. :( Still had a nice time though and of course, the show and food was top notch! I got home around 10pm but didn't do much after that, I did fall asleep and then I stayed up a bit, because hey, it's the weekend.

Saturday - We went to the Korean Food Festival and had some yummy seafood pancakes and these pastries that were filled with brown sugar. Talk about food coma! We then did a bit of grocery shopping and then ate dinner at my parents'. We also took Tofu for a walk in the rain, he enjoyed it a lot and didn't get so muddy this time, so I'm glad he was able to enjoy the outdoors before it rained hard that night.

Sunday - I tried a poutine with a friend for Calgary Poutine Week. We had a poutine that included clams, mussels, football shaped tater tots and cod. It was really good, but it was a very small portion... I wanted more! After that I walked around for a bit with my friend, bought some deodorant and then went home. We also went and bought a few more groceries as well.

It was a productive weekend and also a relaxing one.

Lately I have been piling up shopping carts online, but not hitting the checkout button. I bought a Gudetama blending sponge from Cosmetic-Love today, so I'm super excited for that to arrive in the mail. I've also been trying a bunch of different foundations lately. I really should've bought them during the Sephora sale this past week, but I was still in the midst of trying foundations on. I also could've gotten double the points too... sigh. I'm debating whether I should purchase or not, or just find a cheaper alternative elsewhere. The next sale won't be until November... and that's a long time!

It's okay, I do have a BB cake in the mail... it's almost been 50 days or so since I've ordered it. I questioned the seller and they said it may take a few more weeks to arrive because of customs... ahhhhh, if it takes more than 60 days, I'm just going to ask for a refund. I keep checking my mailbox every single day and it's not there. :(

My other carts also consist of Forever 21 clothes. I've been craving pants lately because I'm too lazy to squeeze into tights nowadays, and try to find a matching skirt. I also really enjoy having pockets. But pants are really weird on me. I like sweatpants now though...

Back to the Sephora thing though, if I do purchase these items now, I might be a VIB pretty soon. That's a lot of money to spend on makeup/beauty products though... I'm also eyeing some false lashes as well. I am really getting used to wearing them every weekend, but tbh, I have a ton of false lashes. They're all natural or really weird styles though, and I want more dramatic ones... but maybe I should stick with these natural ones until they're all used up.

This weekend is going to be pretty busy! Volunteering!

Easter Weekend

I miss the days where I would also get Easter Monday off from school or work, but I had to go back to work today, which was slow and steady, which is good.

On Thursday we had friends over for boardgames. We played Fuse, Mysterium and I watched some friends play Ascension. I didn't know how to play and it would've taken a while to teach me the rules, and since everyone else knew the rules, I decided to opt out. Was a fun night overall!

On Friday we went to my parents house for lunch and then I went out for some ice coffee while Dan went to go play squash with his friend. I then watched some Power Office Girls and we made bibimbap for dinner after. Didn't really do much that day but relax and walk around outside.

On Saturday we went and saw Ghost in the Shell and got to experience the new recliner seats at Cineplex. We then went to Carino Riserva for dinner with some friends. The food was great but a little pricier than I normally would spend! However it was a once-in-a-while kind of dinner, so it was okay.

On Sunday we went shopping for the majority of the day. I got two face masks from The Face Shop and Dan got some jeans from the GAP. It was a very productive shopping trip! We also had a Japanese brunch buffet with some friends at Redheads Japa Cafe in Beltline and it was sooo filling, we didn't eat dinner at all after. Cleaned the house as well and had enough time to prep my clothes and food for work the next day.

I didn't do anything productive last week... except for tidying up my desk a bit. I should really write a new post on my other blog and look into promo codes and commissions. I also need to plan a new video to put up on my channel. I think I might do a lookbook for the Spring... hmm!

Tons of Rice

Ahh, it's Sunday... another weekend is almost done. T_T I always get so sad, I love weekends so much. I think it's just because I find it so hard to wake up early these days, with the sun waking me up so early and it doesn't feel right. It's also partly because I don't sleep as early as I should. Things happen when you try to adjust your schedule after moving.

Anyway, onto the weekly weekend post! On Friday we saw 1979 at Alberta Theatre Projects. I'm not too into politics so I was a little lost here and there, but it was okay! I wouldn't say the play was bad, but I thought the acting was great and I learned quite a bit. The rest of the audience sounded like they enjoyed it, so I thought that was a positive. The after-reception was really good though! An Affair to Remember catered it, with wrap rolls, a cheese platter, a veggie platter and a great selection of desserts. We had two tiny plates of food, and we also got some prosecco that was being given out as well. Great food. :) That was the last show for the season, so we're looking forward to the next one!

Yesterday we made sushi burritos for lunch and they turned out good. :) Then we went and bought a bamboo mat to make sushi and also bought sushi as well. We also went to Mari Bakeshop and had a darjeeling roll cake with some orange blossom tea and an Americano. I was feeling really exhausted during the day, and so that was my second cup of caffeine! Terrible. :( Other than that, I didn't really do much...

We started this morning by watching Better Call Saul and we also took Tofu out for a walk and hung out with him for a bit. We then had lunch at my parents' and then went to 17th ave for Made by Marcus icecream (got the Easter Sunday) and then went to Waves for some tea. Before leaving downtown we went to Freak Lunchbox to look at candy. I wanted to get some but they were closing in 5 minutes and I didn't want to rush through. Maybe I'll go there sometime this week and grab some candy. :D I loooove my sour candy!

Right now we're just chilling at home. I am going to make a calendar in my bullet journal so that I can keep track of what I want to do a bit better. I released my video last week but it needs more promotion. I also need to make a blog post eventually, but I did get lots done chore-wise this week, so I view that as an accomplishment!

Things to do this week:

colour
read
more laundry
blog post
edit
clean my desk

Yup, quite a bit to do and it will keep me busy in the evenings!

Busy weekend

Last Friday we went over to our friends' house again and had some more Japanese food! The main theme was taiyaki. :) We ate lots and stayed until almost midnight, and even met a band member.

On Saturday it was a girls day out for me. I went for brunch at Galaxie Diner with one of my closest friends and caught up with her as it's been a few months since we last saw each other. We walked around on 17th afterwards and I got a tour of her place and then she went to work out so I went home. I chilled at home for a bit and finished up Tokyo Tarareba Musume and then got ready to go out again. I went to Chinook mall with some more girl friends and we also had some sushi at Globefish. It was a productive night of shopping as we all came home with something. I got a diffuser from Saje Wellness, my friend got a moisturizer from Burberry (or hourglass?) and our other friend got a lipstick from Burts Bees. :D

My friend drove me home around 9ish and so I did some laundry and cleaning and then went to bed. On Sunday I decided to visit the new bakeshop in town, called Mari Bakeshop. I bought two roll cakes (or mari), one was green tea and one was cherry almond. I really enjoyed the cherry almond as the flavour came out so intensely. The matcha cake was pretty good too. Kind of pricey though, but I want to try their sandwiches and choux pastries as well. Oh, and they have coffee, too!

This weekend we will see a play and then take my dog out for a walk. We might go to the new Star Trek exhibit at Telus Spark as well... it's getting really nice outside, so I'm excited to do more activities outdoors and to get out more!
